設置宗旨Purpose
「三足鼎立，跨越特技、舞蹈、藝術，一藝孤行；獨門藝術。智仁勇，前瞻願景；深情執著；超越昇華」為特技大鼎獎項設計之意涵。
The BIG TOP award embodies the spirit of the tripod cauldron ("Ding"): three legs standing firm across acrobatics, dance and art; a singular, dedicated craft. Wisdom, benevolence and courage; a forward-looking vision; deep devotion; transcendence and sublimation.
為鼓勵臺灣特技舞蹈人才及推動業界鏈結，特立特技大鼎獎項提昇特技藝術內涵、擴充產業周邊效益、鏈結國際交流。特技大鼎——前者特技為臺灣特殊技藝表演藝術，後者大鼎（Big Top）則為馬戲棚之意，承載著臺灣特技人的夢想與期望，帶著各自所長，在戲棚下日復一日重複練習那熟悉的技藝。
The award was established to encourage Taiwan's acrobatic dance talents and strengthen industry connections — elevating the artistry of acrobatics, expanding the industry's wider benefits, and linking Taiwan to international exchange. In the name BIG TOP, "acrobatics" stands for Taiwan's distinctive performing art of special skills, while the "Big Top" is the circus tent itself — carrying the dreams and hopes of Taiwan's acrobats, who practice their familiar craft under the tent day after day.

- An award trophy is presented to each winner.
- 獲選特定獎項團隊或個人，本會將於次年度引薦在臺知名策展人，取得藝術節演出機會
- Winners of selected categories will be introduced to leading curators in Taiwan the following year, opening opportunities to perform at arts festivals.
- 以及亞洲馬戲網路（金邊、馬德望雙城年會）之馬戲展演機會
- Winners may also gain performance opportunities through the Asian circus network (annual twin-city gatherings in Phnom Penh and Battambang).
備選方式Selection Process
- 備選方式分為推薦及提名二種方式
- Candidates enter through two channels: recommendation and nomination.
- 推薦人由本協會書面邀請或具經營或從事文化藝術事業經中華民國政府正式登記立案之團體
- Recommenders are invited in writing by the association, or are organizations formally registered with the ROC government that operate in the field of culture and the arts.
- 後者設各類提名委員會擔任
- Nominations are handled by nomination committees for each category.
